Chess Bars
1 yellow cake mix
1 stick of butter, softened or melted
1 egg, beaten
Filling:
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 stick of butter, softened or melted
2 eggs, beaten
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla (French Vanilla is fantastic!)
Crust:
Mix together cake mix, butter and egg. Press into a 9x13 baking dish.
Filling:
Cream the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Beat in eggs. Slowly beat in the powdered sugar, a little at a time. Stir in vanilla. Pour over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Sometimes, longer is needed. The top should be a golden brown and have the texture of a cheesecake.
