Original Toll House Chocolate Chip
Cookies
(My version)
1 cup Butter flavored Crisco
¾ cup white sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 large eggs
2 ¼ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
2 cups dark chocolate chips (They have a more intense
chocolate taste.)
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional, but they are so much better
with walnuts!)
Mix Crisco, sugars, vanilla and eggs until creamy. Add
flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Add chocolate chips (and nuts, if
desired). Scoop onto ungreased cookie
sheets. (I use a cookie scoop from Bed, Bath and Beyond.) Bake at 375 degrees
for 10 minutes. Cookies should be a little bit shiny still. If you cook them
too long then they lose their delicious, soft texture. They will firm up as
they cool.
